Baruna
Baruna
In the teachings of Hinduism, Baruna or Waruna (Sanskrit: वरुण; Latin: Varuna) is a Brahman manifestation that seeks maritime rule and sea. The word Baruna (Varuna) comes from var (Sanskrit) which means "closing". The word "var" is then associated with the sea, because the sea is very large and can cover a large part of the earth. Baruna and Mitra are the gods of social affairs, including the oath, and often described the twin between the two gods (compound dvandva). It is also the twin of the Indra gods in Rgveda, such as Indra-Varuna (when the two gods helped to build the new year to begin a new era). As the sky of God (Angkasa), Baruna actually owns half the sky, or heaven (feel), or the "dark" side of the sun due to the beginning of the sunrise from the west to the east of the night during the night. According to Hindu beliefs, Baruna governs a natural law called Reta. Wonten ing ajaran agama Hindu, Baruna utawa Waruna (Sansekerta: वरुण; Latin: Varuna) inggih punika manifestasi Brahman ingkang dados panguwaos laut kaliyan segara. Tembung Baruna (Varuna) asalipun saking var (Sanskerta) ingkang gadhah teges "nutup". Tembung "var" kasebut lajeng dipungayutaken kaliyan laut, amargi segara punika amba sanget saha saged nutupi saperangan ageng wilayah bumi. Baruna saha Mitra inggih punika déwa saking prekawis sosial, kalebet sumpah, saha asring kagambaraken kembar antawisipun déwa kekalih punika (senyawa dvandva). Baruna ugi kembar kaliyan déwa Indra wonten ing Rgveda, kadosta Indra-Varuna (nalika déwa kekalih punika sami ambiyantu nalika mbangun ing taun énggal saperlu miwiti jaman ingkang énggal)) Minangka déwa langit (Angkasa), Baruna saéstu nguwaosi sepalih petenging langit, utawi langit lau (rasa), utawi dados sulihing "peteng" sisihing matahari amargi lampahipun wangsaul saking sisih kilen tumuju mring sisih wetan nalika wayah ndalu. Miturut kapitadosan umat Hindu, Baruna nguwaosi hukum alam ingkang dipunsebut Reta.
