Acheson Declaration
The Acheson Line Declaration was issued by Dean Acheson, US Secretary of State, published on January 12, 1950. The Acheson Line here refers to the US Far East defenses to Northeast Asia, as announced in the declaration. On January 10, 1950, attending a secret meeting of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Acheson said that the US Far East defenses were the eastern side of Taiwan, that is, the line connecting Japan Okinawa and the Philippines. Two days later, Diplomacy Commissioner Tom Connolly announced it abroad. Acheson attended the American Newspaper Press Association at the Washington National Press Club and addressed the topic "The Crisis in Asia" and reaffirmed the US Northeast Asia Defense Plan to stop Stalin and Mao Zedong's territorial ambitions . In the Pacific, it was said that the US regional defenses would be called the Acheson Line connecting the Aleutian Islands - Japan - Okinawa - Philippines. As a result, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of China and the Indochina Peninsula were virtually excluded from the United States.
