Arizona State University
Arizona State University is a state university in the state of Arizona and is comprised of four campuses in the metropolitan area of Phoenix. It was founded in 1885 under the name Tempee Normal School. After several renames, it changed its name to Arizona State University in 1945 and its current name in 1958. The Western Campus in northwest Phoenix in 1984, the Industrial Technology Campus in eastern Mesa in 1996, and the Phoenix Downtown Campus in 2006. 14,535 students graduated in the 2007-2008 academic year, and 168 National Marit Scholars were admitted to Arizona State University in 2008. The average high school GPA for freshmen in 2008 was 3.4 and the average SAT score was 1091. U.S.A. News \u0026 amp; World Report ranked 121st in the US university rankings surveyed and ranked 49th in public universities.
