Vitiligo Vitiligo is the most common pigment-deficiency skin disease, with a prevalence ranging from 0.5% to 2% of the world's population. Approximately half of patients with vitiligo are symptomatic before age 20, and there is no difference in the prevalence of males and females, and it is not a contagious disease. One or two areas of the body, or a wide range of areas, may result in white spots that appear white due to a decrease in melanin pigment, which varies from patient to patient. The melanin cells that synthesize the melanin pigment are destroyed and triggered, and the cause may be associated with autoimmune diseases in a more common context in patients with autoimmune diseases. However, the exact cause of vitiligo is not known. In some patients, the area of pigment deficiency is increasing. 백반증
백반증은 가장 흔한 색소결핍 피부질환으로, 전세계인구의 0.5%~2% 정도의 유병율을 가진다. 대략 절반의 백반증 환자들은 20세 이전부터 증상이 나타나며, 남성과 여성의 유병율의 차이는 없고, 전염되는 질환은 아니다. 몸의 한 두군데 혹은 넓게 여러 부위에 멜라닌색소의 감소로 피부가 하얗게 보이는 하얀 반점이 생기며, 그 범위는 환자마다 다양하게 나타난다. 멜라닌 색소를 합성하는 멜라닌 세포가 파괴되어 유발되며 그 원인은 자가면역 질환을 가진 환자에서 더욱 흔한 정황으로 봤을 때 자가면역질환과 연관되었을 가능성이 있다. 그러나 백반증의 정확한 원인은 알려져 있지 않다. 어떤 환자들에서는 색소결핍의 부위가 점차 증가되기도 한다.
