beat
Bits are information units of computer science and information theory. Research is underway on qubit, which is the smallest information storage unit used in this field and may replace it today. A bit can have a value of 0 or 1, each representing a true, false, or mutually exclusive state. A byte is a collection of several bits, originally not explicitly defined, but currently 8 bits, usually 1 octet, are 1 byte. Four bits are called nibbles, and two bytes refer to words in some electronic communication devices. The SI prefix is often used to refer to kilobits, megabits, and gigabit. The amount of information distributed in communication and computer networking is generally expressed in bits per second. For example, a "56 kbps modem" can transmit 56 kilobits per second of data.
