Celadon Degeneration
Celadon degeneration is the Goryeo celadon statue using the degeneration technique. It is designated as National Treasure No. 173 of the Republic of Korea. It is Nahan sitting on a rock with a small statue on it and two arms on it. The eyebrows, pupils, hair, clothes, etc. are expressed in iron, while the wrinkles of clothes are decorated with a white declination. The glaze is dense in green, The thin part is transparent and the bottom part is oxidized and discolored. The interior of the statue is empty, and there are six burnt marks on the floor, supported by a refractory tobacco mix with clay. It was reconstructed and restored in the 1950s when it was excavated in six pieces in Ganghwa-ri, Ganghwa-do. An example of this is an excellent work using irony and degeneration techniques in expressing individual personality like this nahan.
