Astronomy is a field of natural science that studies astronomical objects such as stars and planets, comets, and galaxies, and phenomena that originate from the outside of the Earth's atmosphere. Astronomy is one of the earliest studies of human interest in heaven. Prehistoric civilizations have left astronomical artifacts such as pyramids and stonehenges, and early civilizations of the East and the West, such as Babylon, Greece, China, India, Iran and Mayan civilization, have left many observational records of the night sky. However, by the invention of the telescope, astronomy developed into modern science. Historically, astronomy has included a myriad of fields ranging from metacognition, backbone, astronomical navigation, and even astrology, modern astronomy usually means astrophysics.
