After alveolar bone abscesses are removed, the alveoli (extractions) and blood are filled with blood, which become blood clots and replaced with granulation tissues, resulting in bone formation in the gland wall. In this process, the sharp part usually formed on the dental wall is appropriately absorbed, and the remaining alveolar bone remains on the flat surface. Sometimes, however, it is possible to remain in a sharp state without systemic or localized cause of absorption of sharp parts, which is called alveolar bone abscess. Particularly, when making a denture (床 義 齒), it becomes a problem and it is often replaced by orthognathic surgery or a complete prosthesis. 치조골흡수부전 이를 뺀뒤, 치조(발치)와에 혈액이 채워져 그 것이 혈병(血餅)이 되고 육아조직으로 치환되어 치조벽에서 뼈가 생성된다. 이 과정에서 보통은 치조벽에 생기는 예리한 부분은 적당히 흡수되고 결과 남은 치조골은 편평한 면에서 잔존하게 된다. 그러나 때로는 전신적 또는 국소적 원인에 의해 예리한 부분의 흡수가 생기지 않고 예리한 상태로 잔존하는 수가 있으며 이것을 치조골 흡수 부전이라고 한다. 특히 상의치(床義齒)를 제작하는 경우 문제가 되고 치조골 정형수술이나 완성보철물로 대치하는 경우가 많다.
