Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a small town in the southern German state of Bavaria. The population is 26,112 as of 2006. It is located at the foot of the highest mountain in Germany, the Tuskcpice Mountains. It is located near the Austrian border. In 1936, the 4th Winter Olympic Games were held and Garmisch and Partenkirchen, which had been developing for a long time before the Winter Olympics, merged to become Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It is a trade center and has a historic cathedral. In addition to winter sports in winter, it is also famous as a center of mountain climbing in summer.
