It is distributed in Korea, Japan, and East coast of China. 거미다리갑오징어 몸통은 약 10cm 정도인 소형 종으로 몸통쪽이 길이의 45% 정도이다. 머리의 폭은 몸통 길이의 약 30% 정도이다. 출수 기관은 몸 전체에 비하여 다소 작은 편이다. 수컷 1번째 팔은 몸통길이의 약 130% 정도로 상당히 길며 그 기부에는 4열의 작은 흡반이 25~30줄 나열되어 있고 끝부분은 2열의 흡반이 약 30줄 정도 나열되어 있다. 수컷 왼쪽 4번째 팔은 교접기화되어 있다. 갑의 가시는 길고 가늘며 횡선면 지수는 70~80이다. 갑의 등쪽 표면은 짙은 분홍색을 띤다. 최대 외투장 10cm까지 성장한다.저서종으로 수심 100~250m에 서식한다. 한국, 일본, 중국 동해 연안 등에 분포한다.
