Furthermore, the decrease in circulating blood volume due to the hemorrhage itself is also added to the severity of severe circulatory failure. The treatment policy is to perform thoracic drainage while observing circulating blood volume by lavage or transfusion. Surgical treatment is also required in some cases.

긴장성혈흉 흉강내에 다량의 출혈을 보게 된 경우, 흉강내압이 상승함에 따라서 종격(縱隔)의 혈관계를 압배해 여러가지 임상증상을 나타내는 병태를 말한다. 특히 정맥혈류가 방해를 받는데 따른 저심박출량상태가 되는 경우가 많다. 더욱이 출혈자체에 의한 순환혈액량의 감소도 더해져서 대단히 중증인 순환부전에 빠지는 경우가 적지 않다. 치료방침은 보액 또는 수혈에 의해 순환 혈액량을 보아가면서 흉강배액을 행하는 것이다. 경우에 따라서는 외과적 치료도 필요하게 된다.
