Godes Island
Gozo Island is a volcanic island of the Izu Islands, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has jurisdiction over it. It lies on the east side of Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture, south of Tokyo mainland. Gozushima Village serves as the local government of the island. The area of Goz Island is 18.48 km² and the population is about 1900 people. The island forms part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. There are many walking trails around the island's main volcano, Tenzo Mountain, which is also a great place for diving. Because it receives quite a few visitors compared to other islands, the white sand beach here is a great place to swim in the summer. If you visit here in the winter, the bad weather of the island may make you mislead. The main industries of the island are fishing, construction, and tourism. Small farming also takes place.
