Public policy
Public policy implies future action guidelines and actual achievements and goals of government agencies. It can be categorized into cultural policy, economic policy, transportation policy, unification policy, foreign policy according to functions, and it is classified into distribution policy, regulatory policy, redistribution policy, and composition policy according to the nature of policy. Sociologists are interested in identifying factors that determine the implementation and formation of concrete public policies. Scholars argue that policies are the product of a strong class, interest group, broad-based alliance, and the extent to which policy is shaped by government officials who want to extend their privileges. In the United States, policies are increasingly being formed at the federal level, and national and local governments are allocating resources in a manner that implements policies and is ordered by the government. As a result, locally based interest groups lose the power to exercise pressure at the national level.
