Greece
Greece is a country in southern end of the Balkans. The official name is Republic of Greece or Republic of Greece. It is also called Greek according to the Greek phonetic transcription. The capital city is Athens, and the major cities are Thessaloniki, Patra, Iraklio, Larissa, Volos, Ioannina, Cavala, Rhodes and Ceres. It is located on the Balkan Peninsula of southern Europe, bordered by Albania, the Republic of Macedonia, Bulgaria and the north, and the eastern part of Turkey. To the east and south of the Greek mainland is a part of the Mediterranean Sea, to the west is the Ionian Sea, with over 1,400 islands and rocks scattered. Typically, there are Crete, Rhodes, and Cyclades Islands, where the island of Santorini is located. The length of the coastline is the 11th longest in the world. Greece is adjacent to communist countries during the Cold War, and the imaginary nation of Turkey is located next to the Greek army, the most powerful army in the Balkans.
