Pneumocystis carinii (PCO2) was elevated in the lungs due to respiratory acidosis emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, acute pulmonary edema, and pneumothorax, and the body fluid Pco2 increased beyond the normal range (35-48 mmHg) . It is also called hypertension. Since the rise of Pco2 is generally stimulated to the respiratory center, the respiratory movement is promoted. In the above state, the ventilation corresponding to the Pco2 is not sufficiently performed, and the Pco2 becomes steady at a certain high Pco2. 호흡성산증 폐기종, 폐섬유증, 급성폐수종, 기흉 등에 따른 폐의 환기장애로 인해서 폐포기 Pco2가 상승하고 그때문에 체액Pco2가 정상범위(35~48mmHg)를 넘어서 상승해 산혈증이 되고 있는 것을 호흡성 산독증이라고 한다. 또 고탄산증이라고도 한다. Pco2의 상승은 일반적으로 호흡중추에 대해서 자극이 되기 때문에 호흡운동은 촉진되는데 상기의 상태인 경우에는 충분히 거기에 대응한 환기가 이루어지지 않고 어떤 높은 Pco2에서 정상상태가 된다.
