Irkutsk
Irkutsk is a city in Siberia and the capital of Irkutsk, Russia. The population is about 590,000. Machinery manufacturing, wood processing, fur, food industry, etc., and aluminum production by hydroelectricity flourishes. There is an Irkutsk hydroelectric power plant with an output of 660 MW completed in 1956. It is connected to the Siberian railway in Moscow, and has a liner connecting the Angara River and Lake Baikal. It is the transportation hub of eastern Siberia, connecting Russia's Far East with Ural and Central Asia. Irkutsk, known as Siberia's Paris, is the seat of an archbishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as cultural facilities such as theaters and operas. Many of these buildings were built by Japanese detained in Siberia. Irkutsk National University, Irkutsk National Language University, and Irkutsk National Technical University. Zenamenkyu monastery, which is decorated with various torches and decorated with golden dome at first sight, has a majestic atmosphere from the outside.
