Elongated keratosis is a group of diseases that exhibit abnormal proliferation of the epidermis, which is symptomatic, that is, other diseases such as eczema occur on the palms and soles of the hands or partial episodes of other genetic diseases. Most of them develop within one to three years after birth. Hereditary hyperkeratosis or Meleda disease is well known from early on, and now it is classified into several types based on clinical findings, genetic type, histologic findings, and complications. 장척각화증 주로 장척에 이상각질증식을 나타내는 질환군인데 증후성의 것, 즉 습진 등 타질환이 손바닥, 발바닥에 생기거나 다른 유전질환의 부분증상으로서 손ㆍ발바닥에 각화병소를 형성한 것은 제외된다. 대부분 생후 1~3년 이내에 발증한다. 일찍부터 유전성 장척각화증이나 멜레다병이 잘 알려져 있는데 현재는 임상소견, 유전형식, 조직소견, 합병증 등을 기준으로 몇개의 병형으로 분류되고 있다.
