Jeong Se-young
Jeong is a businessman in Korea. He worked as a newspaper reporter during the Japanese colonial period as a younger brother of Chung Ju Young. After joining Hyundai Engineering \u0026 Construction in 1957, he won the Taipei Paraty-Narathiwat Expressway Corporation in 1965 and laid the foundation for the construction of the Gyeongbu expressway and the Middle East construction market. When Hyundai Motor was established in 1967, he became the first president. In 1974, he developed the Hyundai Pony, Korea's first model passenger car. In 1976, he got the nickname "Pony Jeong" while exporting pony to the world market, starting with Ecuador. After serving as Hyundai Group Chairman and Hyundai Motor Chairman from 1987 to 1995, he served as Hyundai Motor Honorary Chairman for two years. In 1999, he left the auto industry and became Honorary Chairman of Hyundai Industrial Development, a comprehensive construction company. He died of pneumonia in May 2005. In honor of his will, his son, Mong Myeong-gyu, established the 'Pony Jeong Foundation' in November of the same year. The foundation is engaged in scholarship projects and sponsoring researchers.
