Geological Museum
The Geological Museum is a specialized geological sampling museum belonging to the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, Daedeok Science Town, Daejeon Metropolitan City. After the Daejeon World Expo, an international science event, the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM), which has been accumulating as a result of its research projects in 1992, first disclosed the geological specimens to the general public through the "Geological Samplings," and the need for a systematic and comprehensive museum On November 9, 2001, it was reopened as a geological museum. It has a total area of 2,500 square meters with a total of 5,000 items. There are over 300 minerals, more than 250 fossils, rocks, stones, and over 100 geological and sedimentary structures, as well as various charts and illustrations that show the creation and evolution of the earth. In addition, it has been contributing to the popularization of geological science by providing video screenings, lectures, and experiential learning sites.
