C. psittaci는 보체결합 반응이 사용되고 발병초기와 회복기의 혈청에 대해서 검사를 해 4배 이상의 상승을 보게 되면 확실하게 진단이 된다. C. trachomatis는 여러종류의 기본소체를 항원으로 한 미크로-IF법이 표준적 방법이 되고 있는데 그 간이법으로서는 IgG, IgM, IgA항체를 검사할 수 있는 MFA법 Ipazyme법 등도 있다.
