Knol (web service)
Knol is a knowledge sharing service that Google is developing. It also refers to the web application tool used for this service. The Knol service is a service that combines the concepts of Wikipedia and Skype. Unlike Wikipedia, which has one document per topic, there can be multiple documents by author. That is, anyone can write about any topic and compete with other contributors who write about the same topic. For documents, you can set options such as co-editing, editing only selected parts, and not editing. You can also review the document by introducing a reviewer system. Authors can place ads. When people first look for a topic, the goal is to have the first thing they want to report on the knol, Google says. In early December 2007, we launched a closed beta service, and on July 23, 2008, we launched an open beta service with hundreds of documents.
