The half-life period is 5.26 years, β-ray (310 keV-100% out) and γ-ray (1.17 MeV-100%, 1.33 MeV-100%) are emitted. For clinical purposes, 60Co-vitamin B12 is applied to the absorption test of vitamin B12 (Schilling test). For the purpose of radiotherapy, thousands of cubic sealing lasers are applied to the treatment of malignant tumors as a remote irradiation device. 임상검사의 목적으로는 60Co-비타민 B12로서 비타민B12의 흡수시험(Schilling시험)에 응용된다. 또 방사선치료의 목적으로는 수천큐리의 밀봉대선원(密封大線源)이 원격조사(遠隔照射) 장치로서 악성종양의 치료에 응용된다. 그밖에 대선원(大線源)은 의료기구, 의료재료의 멸균의 목적으로도 사용된다.
