Magnesia Prefecture
Magnesia is a prefecture in the southeastern region of Thessalia, Greece, and its name comes from Magnetes, a tribal name in Macedonia. The current administrative district was created in 1947, and it fell apart from Larissa. About 70% of the population resides in the Volos area, which is the second city in Thessaly and the third commercial port in Greece. Most of the population lives in the Pagassieti Bay and the East. The present location of Magnesia is Volos.
