Mandala (Mandala, Mandala, Sanskrit: मण्डल, मंडल Maṇḍala, Mandala) is a term referring to various entities. The word "mandala" itself is a translation of the Sanskrit Mandala (मण्डल Maṇḍala), which means "circle". Mandala, originally derived from Hinduism, is also used in Buddhism. It refers to a figure drawn according to a certain style or norm, which is used mainly to aid performance in the religious performance of Hindu esoteric Buddhism (Tantrism) and Buddhist esoteric Buddhism (Vajrayana). The Hindu Yantra (यन्त्र · Yantra) corresponds to this figure and can be considered as a kind of mandala. The word "Yantra" is usually used only in the context of Hinduism, whereas Mandala is used both in Hinduism and Buddhism.
