Kingdom of Mercy
The Kingdom of Mercia is one of the seven Anglo-Saxon kingdoms. Ecchelle was founded at the end of the 5th century, and prospered during the Pende around 630 BC. In the latter part of the 8th century, Opa ruled the empire and became the king of the Wessex kingdom and appointed the Archbishop of Canterbury. The king, in cooperation with the Archbishop, organized a mighty nation, threatening Charlemagne, and promoting cultural exchange by encouraging trade with the continent. Then, in 825, he was defeated by Egbert, king of Wessex, and was under his rule.
