Moissia
Moissia or Moesia is the ancient province name for the present Serbian and Bulgarian provinces. Down the Donau River to the north, the Drinus River to the west, the Balkan Mountains to the south, and the Black Sea to the east. It was conquered by King Charles about 30 BC and became the province of Rome in 15 CE. It was divided into two eastern and western provinces, Moisia inferior in the east and Moisia Superiore in the east, bounded by the Kia Bruce River during the Dacian War. At the time of Emperor Trajan, a part of the present Romanian was added to the Moissia Superiore. Since Moicia was a fringe area, the Roman garrison had to be kept at all times and the garrison base was built along the Danube. Several Greek towns near the Danube River and other major towns of Moisia grew up in the garrison district of the Donau. The Greeks had a high percentage of the inhabitants of these cities, as most of them were Greeks.
