Weapon Lending Law
The Act on Arms Lending, the precise name for the promotion of the defense of the United States, made it possible for the United States to provide vast amounts of war supplies to the United Nations, such as Britain, the Soviet Union, and China, during World War II. Unlike World War I, war items that were subject to this law were freely transported by the United States to that country. The law came into force in March 1941, about nine months before the United States joined World War II in December 1941. The weapons lending law invalidated the Cache \u0026 Carey bill, which requires the country to pay in advance and ship directly when purchasing war goods. The reason was that Britain was no longer capable of purchasing and transporting weapons because of the economic deprivation of war and air raids. This law expired on September 2, 1945, the day of the victory of Japan. This law gave rise to the isolationist policy that had continued since the First World War and turned to intervene in international affairs.
