Orissa
The state of Orissa is bordered by Bhubaneswar and the Bay of Bengal, which are mainly in eastern India. West Bengal to the northeast and east, Zar - kand to the north, Chhattisgarh to the west and northwest, and Andhra Pradesh to the south. The average income is the lowest in India, but the plains of the Mahanadhi River Valley are rice farming areas, where agricultural products are relatively common. In the northern region close to Bihar, there are many underground resources such as iron, manganese and coal, and in Lourkela there is a steel mill built with German assistance. A new capital, Bhubaneswar, was built to the south of the former capital, Kathak. The cyclone landed in October 1999, causing much damage.
