N선상에서는 경골중추끝의 전방 골융기가 불규칙해지고 부리모양으로 보인다. 경골조면(粗面) 부분에서의 골화유합의 장애가 원인으로 생각되고 있는데 외상이나 이곳에 부착하는 슬개건(膝蓋腱)의 이상견인도 요인이 되고 있다고 한다. 양성의 경과를 나타내고, 골단부가 폐쇄할 시기에는 통증도 자연히 소실한다. 치료로서는 안정, 습포, 골천공 등이 이루어진다.
