Paula is one of the three women recorded in the book of Saint Jerome (340-420) who contributed to the translation work of the Bible in Latin as a wife who played an active part in the activity of Christianity based on Christian spirit in the 4th and 5th century. She was fluent in Hebrew and helped translate St. Jerome. She and her daughters donated tremendous wealth to build pilgrim 's accommodations and patient accommodation, and looked after travelers and patients themselves. It was said that nursing was the first person to teach a poor person, a technology, not merely a charity service for those who suffered. 파울라 4~5세기에 크리스트교정신에 입각해서 구료활동에 활약한 부인으로서 성서의 라틴어 번역사업에 공헌한 성제롬(340~420)의 남긴 저서에 기록되어 있는 3명의 여성의 한사람. 그녀는 헤브라이어에 능통하며 성제롬의 번역을 도왔다고 하는데 딸들과 함께 순례자의 숙박소나 환자의 수용시설을 세우는데 막대한 재산을 기증하고 스스로도 여행객이나 환자를 돌보았다. 간호는 단순히 가난한 자, 괴로움을 당하는 자를 위한 자선봉사만이 아닌 하나의 기술인 점을 가르쳐준 최초의 사람이었다고 한다.
