Nikolai Mikhailovich Przewalski is a Russian geographer and a central Asian / East Asian explorer. He did not reach the sacred city of Lhasa, which was the ultimate goal, but by then he had explored Tibet, Qinghai, and Zhongguia, which were unknown places in the West. He contributed to the understanding of Europe in Central Asia and was the first European to discover the only wilderness that remained uninhabited, the Przewalski horse.
