Seokpo
Seokpo-myeon is the side of Byeonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea. The area is 150.1 square kilometers and the population is 2,144 as of 2006. It is located at the northeast end of Bonghwa-gun, Uljin County to the east, and Taebaek-si, Gangwon Province to the north. The whole surface is over 400m high, and it passes the upper stream of Nakdong River. It is a mine village where zinc is buried, making zinc mining and smelting the main industry. Currently, the zinc-related industry has declined somewhat and the population has fallen sharply, but there are still the largest zinc mines and smelters in the Republic of Korea. In recent years, as a countermeasure against the decline of mining industry, it is focusing on cultivation of highland vegetables and special crops and tourism by making use of regional characteristics. It belongs to the Taebaek Citizen's Area because it is located much closer to Taebaek city than Bokhap-eu of the county seat. There are roads and roads such as mountains, Yeongdong Line and National Highway No. 36. Major sightseeing spots include Taebaek Mountain on the border with Taebaek-si, a game station known as the most remote railroad station in Korea, and a livelihood habitat upstream of the Nakdong River.
