Seoul International Women's Film Festival
The International Women's Film Festival in Seoul was held in April 1997 in Seoul. The Seoul International Women's Film Festival held its first film festival on April 1, 1997. Even when the concept of the festival was not clear, it was the second international festival to be held after the Pusan International Film Festival in 1996. At the time, the most important purpose of the launch of the International Women's Film Festival in Seoul was to show the public the women's films that looked at the reality of women as women's eyes under the catch phrase "Let's see the world through women's eyes." The audience's reaction to the 1st International Women's Film Festival in Seoul, which started with the purpose of screening movies for women by women, for women, led to a bigger surprise than expected. The film festival, which started as a biennial due to the reception and support of these audiences, has become an annual format since 2001, when the third festival was held. Since the 6th Women's Film Festival in 2004, the Secretariat and event venues have moved to Shinchon, a town of youth and culture, and pursued change.
