분자수준에서 기능단위의 총칭으로, 세포, 소기관의 막을 뜻한다. 각기 특이적인 힘으로 결합해서 섬유나 그물코를 만들고 각각 변화시켜 기능을 나타낸다. 물질의 예로서 칼모듈린, 미오신, 악틴, 튜뷸린을 들 수 있으며, 미소관(微小管), 마이크로필라멘트가 결합물의 예로서 들어진다.
