He was a soldier of the Republic of China and leader of the warlords. He graduated from the Baoding Army Academy in 1904, and in the same year he studied at the Japanese Military Academy. In 1908, he graduated from the Military Academy of Japan and joined the Chinese Alliance. He returned to China in 1909 and served as the second commander, the sixth commander, and the third commander in the second army. In 1921 he was appointed General Commander of the Upper River Guards from Ufeifu, where he lived in Yichang City. When the 1924 storage war broke out, he was on the side of Chao Khun, leading the army and advancing to Zhejiang Province, defeating the army led by Lu Yingxiang, the royal army, and Zhejiang Province. In October 1925, he defeated Baekcheon wave in Shanghai, Jiangsu province and Anhui province in October, and in November of the same year, he founded "Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangsu province Oseong coalition" . At that time, he invited Japanese instructor Okamura Yasushi, and appointed him as an adviser to the high military affairs.
