University of Texas, Austin or UT Austin is a state university in Austin, Texas, the largest and most central university in the University of Texas system. It is located on a 423.5 acre site approximately 400 meters from Texas City Hall. Founded in 1883, UT Austin is known as Public Ivy. Currently, there are a lot of research activities. In 2009 ~ 2010, 640 billion dollars were invested in the research. There are seven museums and 17 libraries on the UT Austin campus, and there are several research institutions such as J. J. Pickle Research Campus and the McDonald Observatory. Among the campus members are Nobel Prize, Pulitzer Prize, Wolf Prize, and many other award-winning scholars. Athletes belonging to UT Austin are playing in the Big 12 Conference League of NCAA Division I as Texas Longhorns. Since the league's inception in 1996, it has won NCAA Division I football four times, including women's and men's sports, and has won many other sporting events.
