Western blot method This is a method to check for protein components. First, the protein is separated by the electric-annealing method using polyacrylamide gel (PAG). Each protein component separated from the gel is then transferred from the gel to the nitrocellulose membrane and adsorbed on the membrane. The protein component of the membrane is reacted with a labeling antibody (an antibody labeled with an isotope, a fluorescent dye or an enzyme), and the desired protein component is detected as a result of the antigen-antibody reaction. This method is applied to the analysis of tumor antigens, bacterial / viral antigens, and monoclonal antibodies as well as proteins.

웨스턴블로트법 단백성분을 검사하기 위해 이루어지는 방법이다. 우선 폴리아크릴아미드겔(PAG)을 사용한 전기연동법에 의해서 단백을 분리한다. 이어서 겔내에서 분리된 각 단백성분을 겔에서 니트로셀룰로 스막으로 전사하여 막에 흡착한다. 막상의 단백성분에 표지 항체(아이소토프, 형광색소 또는 효소로 표지된 항체)를 반응시켜서 항원ㆍ항체 반응의 결과, 목적하는 단백성분이 검출된다. 이 법은 단백외에 종양항원, 세균ㆍ바이러스 항원, 모노클로날항체 등의 분석에 응용되고 있다.
