Amil is defined as those assigned to perform all activities related to zakat matters, from the Collection to the level of distribution. They are divided into two basic units, namely zakat collection units and zakat distribution units. And they are paid with money from zakat. Thus, zakat has a certain amount of money to pay the amil. Imam Nawawi in his book, Kitab Al Majmu, identifies the importance of amil. They are assigned to take a census that has the obligation to pay the zakat, the type and amount of zakat they need to pay. They are also assigned to take the census entitled to the distribution of zakat and how much they need. In addition, they are responsible for safeguarding zakah from destruction and improper handling or misuse. Therefore Amil becomes the third priority to receive zakat. Amil adalah ditakrifkan sebagai mereka yang ditugaskan untuk melaksanakan segala aktiviti yang berkaitan dengan hal-hal zakat, dari Kutipan sehingga peringkat pengedaran. Mereka dibahagikan kepada dua unit asas, iaitu unit pungutan zakat dan unit pengedaran zakat. Dan mereka dibayar dengan wang dari zakat. Jadi, zakat mempunyai jumlah tertentu yang diperuntukkan untuk membayar gaji amil itu. Imam Nawawi dalam kitabnya, Kitab Al Majmu, mengenal pasti kepentingan amil. Mereka ditugaskan untuk mengambil bancian yang mempunyai kewajipan untuk membayar zakat, jenis dan jumlah zakat yang mereka perlu membayar. Mereka juga ditugaskan untuk mengambil bancian yang berhak menerima pengagihan zakat dan berapa banyak yang mereka perlukan. Selain itu, mereka bertanggungjawab untuk menjaga harta zakat dari kemusnahan dan pengendalian yang tidak betul atau menyalahgunakan. Oleh yang demikian, Amil menjadi keutamaan ketiga untuk menerima zakat. Selain itu, Dr Wahbah Zuhaili menyimpulkan bahawa amil perlu diberi bahagian zakat pada masa dahulu sebelum yang lain asnafs / mustahiks. Mereka menerima zakat bukan kerana keperluan mereka, tetapi mereka menerima zakat kerana kerja mereka.
