Colonialism is a term for a system that refers to the development of a state's power over the region and the people and the people beyond the borders of the country, often the party or authority that exercises the concept of Colonialism in developing its empire will seek economic domination of resources, labor, and value trade and market of the territory other than the home and natural resources resources and raw materials. Kolonialisme adalah sebuah istilah terhadap sistem yang merujuk kepada pengembangan kekuasaan sebuah negara ke atas wilayah dan manusia serta masyarakat di luar batas negaranya, selalunya pihak atau kuasa yang mengamalkan konsep Kolonialisme dalam mengembangkan empayarnya akan mencari dominasi ekonomi dari sumber daya kerja, tenaga kerja, dan nilai perdagangan dan pasaran wilayah tersebut selain dari faktor muka bumi dan kekayaan sumber asli dan bahan mentah. Istilah ini juga merujuk kepada suatu himpunan keyakinan yang digunakan untuk melegitimasikan atau mempromosikan sistem ini, terutama kepercayaan bahawa moral dari pihak pengkoloni lebih hebat daripada pihak yang dikoloni. Pendukung dari kolonialisme berpendapat bahawa hukum kolonial menguntungkan negara yang dikolonikan dengan mengembangkan infrastruktur ekonomi dan politik yang diperlukan untuk pemodernisasian dan demokrasi.
