Priests refer to a kind of subtle creature in the Malay beliefs, possibly from the jinn / satan, found in the forest. Belief in fairies is also found in western societies such as England and the United States. The monks are usually depicted as human-like, and have a distinctive society. The parishes are said to be not preserved by humans and are said to be free. Their origin is unclear in folklore, with a variety of behaviors, and forms of the devil, or species that are completely free from humans or angels. Western folklore has suggested that their origin of race is subjected to living in hiding, or in the belief that it is eliminated with the advent of Christianity. This explanation is not always compatible, and it may be tracked from various sources.

Pari-pari merujuk kepada sejenis makhluk halus dalam kepercayaan Melayu, kemungkinannya dari golongan jin/syaitan, yang terdapat dalam hutan. Kepercayaan terhadap pari-pari juga terdapat dalam masyarakat barat seperti di England dan Amerika Syarikat. Pari-pari biasanya digambarkan sebagai berbentuk seperti manusia, dan mempunyai masyarakat tersendiri. Pari-pari dikatakan tidak dipelihara oleh manusia dan dikatakan hidup bebas.
