The Malay National Malay Party, also known as the Malay Nationalist Party was established on October 17, 1945 in Ipoh, Perak. This party was the first Malay political party established after the Japanese occupation of Malaya. The main goal of the PKMM establishment is to claim full independence for Malaya and to oppose any form of British colonization. PKMM is also working to overcome the problems of the Malays in terms of education, social and economic as well as freedom of print and speech. On November 30, 1945, PKMM had issued eight resolutions deemed by the British government as inspired by the 'Nine Matters' plan of the Communist Party of Malaya. PKMM initially did not tend to communism. But when Mokhtaruddin Lasso was inaugurated as his first president in October 1946, the party was influenced by the communists.

Parti Kebangsaan Melayu Malaya, juga dikenali Parti Nasionalis Melayu telah ditubuhkan pada 17 Oktober 1945 di Ipoh, Negeri Perak. Parti ini merupakan parti politik Melayu yang pertama ditubuhkan selepas pendudukan Jepun di Tanah Melayu. Matlamat utama penubuhan PKMM ialah untuk menuntut kemerdekaan penuh bagi Tanah Melayu dan menentang sebarang bentuk penjajahan Inggeris. PKMM juga berusaha mengatasi masalah orang Melayu di segi pelajaran, sosial dan ekonomi serta kebebasan mencetak dan bersuara. Pada 30 November 1945, PKMM telah mengeluarkan lapan resolusi yang dianggap oleh pihak kerajaan British sebagai diinspirasikan oleh rancangan 'Sembilan Perkara' Parti Komunis Malaya. PKMM pada mulanya tidak condong kepada komunisme. Tetapi apabila Mokhtaruddin Lasso dilantik sebagai presidennya yang pertama pada bulan Oktober 1946, parti ini dipengaruhi oleh komunis.
