High School Certificate of Malaysia
Malaysian High School Certificate or Malaysian Higher School Certificate in English is a pre-university exam that is occupied by Malaysian students. This examination was formerly known as the Higher School Certificate. STPM is provided by the Malaysian Examinations Council which also provides the Malaysian University English Test, in contrast to the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia, Lower Secondary Assessment and Primary School Evaluation Test prepared by the Malaysian Examination Board. However, both LPM and MPM are located under the Ministry of Education Malaysia. STPM is one of two major pre-university systems for the entry of Malaysian public universities. Another system is the matriculation program organized by the Ministry of Education. STPM is recognized by many universities internationally, especially universities in Commonwealth countries as well as American and Irish companies. Most universities consider STPM's decision to be the same as A-level. From 2012 onwards, a new modular system will replace the existing terminal system for the Malaysian High School Certificate.
