The agency was established on 7 April 1948. Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia merupakan agensi Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu yang bertugas menjalankan penyelidikan dan mengambil tindakan-tindakan tertentu bagi menjamin kesihatan penduduk sedunia. Agensi ini ditubuhkan pada 7 April 1948.
