Eugène Delacroix

Eugène Delacroix

Ferdinand Victor Eugène Delacroix - French painter, representative of Romanticism. He studied painting with Pierre-Narcisse Guérin, and was strongly influenced by Rubens's painting. It is not excluded that the biological father of the painter was not Charles Delacroix, but Maurice Talleyrand, who - as a mature man - resembled in appearance and character. Delacroix, as the flagship painter of French Romanticism, was often compared to Ingres, considered to be the chief painter of classicism. In 1855, on the occasion of the world exhibition, it became evident that Delacroix was a renewal of French painting, which not so much "overcame" classicism, which opened the way to a new look at art - without him perhaps Impressionism would not be born. Delacroix was primarily a colorist, a painter with freedom, which after a period of very costly color and rigid composition of the time of Classicism brought the element of nature just form. He was a novelist in the subject area, since many of his works concerned important events of his time, mostly political - Delacroix was a "committed" creator. Ferdinand Victor Eugène Delacroix – malarz francuski, przedstawiciel romantyzmu.
