Hyracotherium

Hyracotherium

Hyracotherium - the genus of one of the oldest solipeds, the distant ancestor of a horse. Hyracotherium lived from 52 to 49 million years in North America and Eurasia. It was a small animal with a height of 25 to 50 cm at the withers. The forelegs had four fingers, but the big finger did not touch the ground and was in a state of disappearance. At the end of the hindquarters there were only three toes, the two sides were already in the residual state, barely visible from the skin. Hyracotherium lived in the woods and was fed with leaves. At present, only the typical species - H. leporinum - belongs to the genus Hyracotherium. Other species have been moved to other types such as Arenahippus, Minippus, Pliolophus, Protorohippus, Sifrhippus, Xenicohippus and Eohippus. Footnotes ... Hyracotherium – rodzaj jednego z najstarszych nieparzystokopytnych, daleki przodek konia. Hyracotherium żyło przed 52 do 49 milionami lat w Ameryce Północnej i Eurazji. Przypisy...
