Gabion

Gabion

Gabion - a rectangular construction element reinforcing the slope, the earth embankment or the river bank. It has the form of a mostly rectangular basket made of rods and steel mesh, filled with stones or gravel. Volume depends on applications from 0.25 to 4 m³. Often used as an ornamental architectural element also in road construction and water. Modern gabion baskets for the production of which in place of steel wires, use a horizontal channel is used for the production of gabion fences. Such a solution makes the baskets much stiffer and thus more applications. Contemporary version of the so-called gabion. "HESCO barrier" is a large scale used by the military, among others. in Iraq or Afghanistan to build temporary defenses and internal shields in military bases against enemy fire. Gabion replaces burdensome sacks in the filling and, above all, less resistant to fire.
