Kilogram - mass unit, basic unit of the SI system, determined by kg. This is a mass of international standards. The kilogram standard was sanctioned by the resolution of the First General Conference of Measures in September 1889. This is currently the only base unit with the prefix, as well as the only one for which the definition of the object is based, not the reference to physical constants.

Jest to obecnie jedyna jednostka podstawowa posiadająca przedrostek, jak również jedyna, dla której podstawą definicji jest określony przedmiot, a nie odwołanie się do stałych fizycznych.
