Kamfen - organic chemical, biphenyl-terpenes. Crystalline solid with a camphor smell. Insoluble in water, readily soluble in organic solvents, ethanol or diethyl ether. Occurs in the form of two enantiomers: l and d. At room temperature it sublimates rapidly. Kamfen is the only natural hydrocarbon of C10H16 aggregate that is solid at room temperature. This is a natural ingredient in many essential oils. In crystalline form, l-camphene was isolated. Essential oil of spruces or the first fractions of citronella oil; Also found in oil from Juniperus phoenicea, nerol, valerian, lemon, Artemisia alba and Chrysanthemum japonicum. d-camfen is found in cypress, also in spruce, ginger, nutmeg, lemon, orange, camphor, petitgrain or knob eucalyptus.

Kamfen – organiczny związek chemiczny, dwupierścieniowy terpen. Krystaliczne ciało stałe o zapachu kamfory. Właściwie nierozpuszczalny w wodzie, łatwo rozpuszcza się w rozpuszczalnikach organicznych, etanolu czy eterze dietylowym. Występuje w postaci dwóch enancjomerów: l i d. W temperaturze pokojowej szybko sublimuje. Kamfen to jedyny naturalny węglowodór o wzorze sumarycznym C10H16 będący w temperaturze pokojowej ciałem stałym. Jest to naturalny składnik wielu olejków eterycznych. W postaci krystalicznej l-kamfen został wyizolowany m.in. z olejku eterycznego ze świerków czy z pierwszych frakcji olejku cytronelowyego; występuje także w olejku z gałązek Juniperus phoenicea, olejku nerolowym, walerianowym, cytrynowym, w Artemisia alba czy w Chrysanthemum japonicum. d-kamfen występuje w olejku cyprysowym, także w świerkowym, imbirowym, muszkatołowym, cytrynowym, pomarańczowym, w kamforze, w petitgrain, czy w kwiatach eukaliptusa gałkowego.
