Nubia

Nubia - a historical land located in north-east Africa, in southern Egypt and northern Sudan. It occupies the middle course of the Nile between Aswan and Khartoum. In ancient times, Kush was inhabited by a people related to the Egyptians, who in the middle of the second millennium BC. It was mixed with tribes flowing from the south. Nubia was repeatedly invaded by Egypt because of the large gold reserves there. Nubia was conquered by the pharaohs of the eighteenth dynasty and in the years 1570-1345 p.n.e. was an integral part of their state. Only in the years 1200-1085 p.n.e. Nubia regained her independence. At that time, the independent kingdom of the Kushtis was formed, with the capital of Napat. From the 3rd century BC. The capital was in Meroe. In the years 715-663 p.n.e. Nubia took possession of Egypt. During Roman rule in Egypt in 27 BC, during the reign of Queen Kandake, her army invaded the Romans. After initial successes, the Roman armies drove the Nubians and led the counteroffensive taking Napat. Upon conclusion of the peace treaty, the Romans withdrew from Nubia.

Nubia – kraina historyczna znajdująca się w północno-wschodniej Afryce, w południowym Egipcie i północnym Sudanie. Zajmuje środkowy bieg Nilu pomiędzy Asuanem a Chartumem. W starożytności zwana Kusz, zamieszkana była przez lud spokrewniony z Egipcjanami, który w połowie II tysiąclecia p.n.e. uległ wymieszaniu z napływającymi od południa plemionami. Nubia była wielokrotnie najeżdżana przez Egipt ze względu na znajdujące się tam duże zasoby złota. Nubia została podbita przez faraonów XVIII dynastii i w latach 1570-1345 p.n.e. była integralną częścią ich państwa. Dopiero w latach 1200-1085 p.n.e. Nubia odzyskała niepodległość. Powstało wtedy samodzielne królestwo Kuszytów ze stolicą w Napata. Od III wieku p.n.e. stolica znajdowała się w Meroe. W latach 715-663 p.n.e. Nubia zawładnęła Egiptem. Podczas rzymskiego panowania w Egipcie w 27 r. p.n.e., za rządów królowej Kandake, jej wojska zaatakowały Rzymian. Po początkowych sukcesach rzymskie wojska wyparły Nubijczyków i poprowadziły kontrofensywę zajmując Napatę. Po zawarciu układu pokojowego Rzymianie wycofali się z Nubii.
