Parnas is a mountain range in central Greece, with the highest peak rising to an altitude of 2457 m, built mostly of limestone. The town of Delphi was located nearby, the seat of the most famous ancient oracle, and dedicated to the Apollin temple. Today, Parnas is one of the most important winter sports centers in Poland, with a large and extensive tourist base, in the center of Arachova. Most of Parnassus's massif is covered by old spruce stands. At the same geological construction, apart from the dry season of the Greek summer, a significant part of the Parnass massif resembles the Slovakian Tatra landscape, which does not concern the bare top of the vegetation of the mountain. In Greek mythology Parnassus was the seat of Apollina and his retinue, composed of muses. Archaeologists also point to numerous traces of the idolatry of the Lord. In some versions of the Greek Deluge, the ship Deukalion and Pyrry settled on its slopes. In the second half of the nineteenth century, in France, the poetic group of that name appealed to classical ideas. Its leader was Charles Leconte de Lisle.

Obecnie Parnas jest, jednym z ważniejszych w kraju, ośrodkiem sportów zimowych, z rozbudowaną i rozległą bazą turystyczną, której centrum znajduje się w miejscowości Arachowa. Większą część masywu Parnasu pokrywa stary, świerkowy drzewostan. Przy zbliżonej także budowie geologicznej, poza okresem suchego, greckiego lata, znaczna część masywu Parnasu przypomina krajobrazem słowackie Tatry, co nie dotyczy jednak ogołoconego z roślinności wierzchołka góry. W mitologii greckiej Parnas był siedzibą Apollina i jego orszaku, złożonego z muz. Archeolodzy wskazują też na liczne ślady kultu bożka Pana. W niektórych wersjach greckiego podania o potopie łódź Deukaliona i Pyrry osiadła na jego zboczach. W drugiej połowie XIX w. we Francji działała, odwołująca się do idei klasycznych, grupa poetycka o tej nazwie. Jej liderem był Charles Leconte de Lisle.
